Trustees of Oakfield (Easton Maudit) Ltd have overall responsibility for strategy and financial viability of the Charitable Company, with operational activities delegated to the Managing Team and other paid staff of the organisation. A typical Board meeting will consider strategic direction, and an update on recent work undertaken by Oakfield Community, with a report from the Senior Management Team.
We are looking for more Trustees to join our dedicated team. We are looking for people that can bring experience, understanding and determination. If you have an interest in supporting people to achieve in their lives and can see ways to do this for those that are vulnerable and who require more support.
Then please contact us.
I have been a member of Oakfield Community Board of Trustees since early 2018, then moving to the role of chairperson in 2020. I have always been passionate about the care and support of vulnerable people. I worked for 21 years in the Regulation and Inspection of care services. I have the passion and vision to assist Oakfield to achieve excellence. I am interested in the letter of the law and how that is applied to running services but also believe in the spirit of the law and the intention to provide the best outcome for each individual.
The ethos and foundation on which the charity was built was that people who lived at Oakfield should be treated with respect and dignity and be supported to live a fulfilling life with community at its heart. I am committed to following this vision.
I trained as a Production Engineer and spent most of my career in Human Resources with multinational companies. I also have experience of being the proprietor of a nursing home with family for several years.
I was thrilled to be able to become involved with Oakfield having lived in the local area for over twenty-five years.
Working with the small team of Trustees has enabled me to become involved both practically and strategically to ensure that Oakfield focusses its resources on enabling those whom we support to have a fulfilled and happy life.
I trained as a Chartered Accountant and transitioned to a career in various IT Services businesses.
I moved to the UK in 1999 from South Africa, when my company transferred me to run a company acquired in the UK. We settled in Yardley Hastings which is where I became acquainted with Oakfield.
In my corporate life I was very active in Community Support Programmes and I am very excited to be involved more tangibly with Oakfield, with its strategic development, and to assist in further enabling Oakfield and its management team to provide exceptional facilities and care to those we support.
I have recently joined Oakfield’s board of Trustees in January 2024. I relocated to the UK from Germany in 2005 and have developed a passion for the Care and Charity sectors. My career is within the care sector, with my current role as the Mental Health, Learning Disability & Autism (MHLDA) Collaborative Lead at the Integrated Care Board in Northamptonshire. I am part of other Trustee Board positions such as the Faraway Children’s Charity, Stand Out Northamptonshire and The Crysalys Foundation.
I am excited to be involved within the Board of Trustees at Oakfield, and hope to bring my experience and knowledge to strive for the growth and development of Oakfield Community.
My early employment background started in admin moving into accounts and more specifically Management Accounting in 1999. I have always had a huge respect for the charity sector and over the years I have volunteered in a number of areas. I have experience of board level positions within other charities and non-profit organisations.
My youngest daughter moved into Oakfield Community in 2021. It is wonderful to see her living a happy and fulfilled life. She is profoundly disabled so I am acutely aware of the difficulties surrounding finding and accessing suitable services for her and other people with disabilities.
The future for parents of children like my daughter is an extremely frightening place, so I am delighted to be a Trustee, to use my experience and knowledge to be involved in Oakfield Community in their vision and mission to support individuals to reach their full potential. I will be able to work from the perspective of both the provider but always with the best interests of the people we support.
Since leaving school, I’ve had a varied career, however my main career came about as a vocation that I recognised I wished to pursue as a child, that of Social Worker. I am still registered with HCPC and worked in a number of roles in social care. From the position of Senior Social Worker I transferred across to the NHS. My NHS and public sector roles have included, Lead Commissioner/Joint Commissioner for Adult Mental Health and Community Services, Transformation Lead for NHSE South West, NHS Regional Lead for End of Life Care, Transforming Care and Stroke Pathway redesign. In a voluntary capacity, I have been the Chair of a Residents Voice network for a large Housing Association, a trustee for a homeless persons charity, Member of a local MIND committee, School Governor, Local Parish Councillor (and Chair for a short while), and a Hospital and City Church Based Radio Presenter.
I believe I’m a highly energetic, passionate, enthusiastic and committed practitioner and very much retain an allegiance, honesty and loyalty to the individual, team or organisation within which I work. I am looking forward to bringing my knowledge and experience to being a Trustee of Oakfield Community.
